made with love

we bought this dresser {i've become a craigsl*st addict} and dr. daddy has been working so hard to strip and refinish it in his "free" time! he is doing such an amazing job...i'm so proud of him and so thankful he loves doing it!

as you can see...little man has been helping when he can too!

the nursery is almost complete...

the nursery is almost in its final stage. {well close...the final stage will actually be when a cute little prince is laying in his bed!} there are a few touches that i designed and my momma is finishing up sewing and sending our way and his monogram will also go up once he arrives...then it will be ready!

but for now...here is the little mister's nursery...hopefully you'll enjoy the tour...come on in...

his curtains {also handmade by his lala} turned out beautifully and will soon have a cushion on the window seat below

his rocker arrived a couple weekends ago...courtesy of his daddy as my birthday surprise!
and looks just perfect with his firetrucks flying ahead {from aunt katie and uncle rick}

the lamp...hubby, mom, and i made...it is an old fire alarm box that hubby has had for a while...
you can even open the little door and set off an alarm...it started out like this...

firealarmbox

this cute little vintage suitcase is from my aunt...i just love it! i hand carried it home on the plane this summer! it holds all the needed goods for proper diaper changes! the dishes are my baby dishes and the vintage little lamb is from his lala!

changingtable2

if you are a long time reader you will recognize his changing table...
and remember this ladder...

we are so happy with how the ladder turned shelf turned out...
{you just never know sometimes about the wild designs swirling in my head...}
hubby did a fabulous job redoing it and attaching it to the wall!!! thanks love!

right now i have several of his cards and blessings on his closet door. i just couldn't bear to hide them all away in a box yet. they are a wonderful reminder of all the love for this little mister on the way!

babylove

that concludes the tour! and i just realized i forgot to take a picture of his closet...what room isn't complete without a closet full of adorable clothes! i'll include that when the room is all finished and i snap some more pics!

thank you so much for the onesie love yesterday...they were my first attempt and i enjoyed doing them...super easy!

old school calling

growing up {one of four} my dad used to always say that he owned stock in fisher price! no wonder i recognized all these toys when i passed them in the aisle today! i think we had them all at our house!! have you seen or heard?
target has these adorable old school toys on sale this christmas season! its already started and the little man isn't here yet...i am on the hunt for toys before they are gone like every other parent! ...i am wondering if its too early to be making his christmas list for when he's a year old!!!
waiting til next year might not be an option though...i might need to run it by hubby...he seemed a little surprised when i bought the mister a train the other day that we'll be giving him on his 3rd birthday! although...he has already picked out the power wheels he wants to get him at age 5!

in looking further i found this adorable set...he most surely "needs" this! and who doesn't remember this from back in the day? these are in celebration of fp's 50th anniversary...so they will be gone by the time he's 2!

handy man

fall is creeping in...and i love it! the smell, the breeze, the need for longer sleeves, and i even spotted some red leaves this weekend too! hubby and i spent time at our local flea market this weekend! i love these days together!

oddly enough...the vendors had exactly what i am always looking for, but i was not in the market for those things this trip! we did come across...just "the find" we were searching for! an old wooden ladder!

oldladder

there are many times that i dream up crazy ideas when it comes to decorating. some work and some i can't get to work outside my head and others i wonder if they are border line crazy and my supportive husband takes the challenge of making them feasible! the ladder is one that started in my head and we were so surprised to actually find one that would fit what we needed it for...now lets just hope it actually works for what its intended!

sanding

we stopped by lowe's on the way home to pick up some paint for it and handy man hubby set to work getting it cleaned, sanded, and layered in a fresh coat of paint!

sanding2

he did a fabulous re-do job! it turned out perfectly! it will be a unique addition to the little man's room all loved and cleaned up nice by his daddy!

finishedladder

...our unexpected find was this antique cradle. not that we need a cradle {because i LOVE the one we found last year}, but with the unique look of this piece, its fabulous spindles, and its shocking price...we couldn't pass it up! the question was more along the lines of "will it fit in the car"? not too sure what we'll use it for yet, but i'm leaning towards adding wood to the bottom {instead of the slats that came with it} and using it to hold the little man's toys! ...any other creative ideas ladies?

cradle

hope your weekends are turning out breezy and cool too! i just love this time of year! of course, it also means the little mister is making his debut soon...8 weeks and counting!!!

lovely week

we had a lovely visit with mom! it is always so sad to see her go and so hard too...but this time i couldn't help, but realize what her next visit will be like and the ones from now on. i will be a mommy too...oh how this little man will adore his lala!

we worked hard this week getting his room together and we made amazing strides! wait until you see the before and after! a few things are left on the to-do/must-find list in order to call the nursery complete...

  • find shelving for the wall above his changing table {hoping to find something vintage this weekend at one of our favorite spots...if not, i might have to settle}
  • waiting on his rocker to arrive...a couple more weeks {such a sweet surprise from hubby!}
  • finish the lamp we are making out of an old unique vintage piece...such a group effort this one!
  • mom is currently sewing his cord cover for the chandi {are you surprised he will have one in his room...bet not!}, and the blanket and pillow we dreamed up and designed.
  • complete the pad and cover for the window seat
and what we accomplished in just one week...a whole lot! ...see...

mom painted his room...

...she and hubby assembled his crib
